Soft Silky Hair can happen!

Soft and silky naturally beautiful hair can be yours... I believe we each have to just find what that is our hair specifically needs.  There are many factors that can cause us to experience dullness or unruliness in our hair: stress, poor diet, lack of sleep, weather and environmental affects.  How you keep your lifestyle will reflect in your appearance.  I want to help you find the reflection of the most natural beautiful and fresh you there is to show.  I hope my shampoo comes to be something that works for you.

Several years ago I went through attempting to develop a natural shampoo and conditioner for my own hair.  What I made worked on some people, and absolutely not on others, myself included.  I so wanted to have something that would work for everyone and be safer, contain no SLS (explanation of SLS), and be economical as well.  I gave up after a while, offered the recipe I used to make but made sure only those I knew it would work for purchased it, and admitted it was something I couldn't use myself.  After I moved from Pennsylvania I set the recipe to rest and didn't offer or use my own natural shampoo or conditioner.

But the story didn't end there...today I have not only found a way to create a fantastic shampoo and conditioner, I have been using it myself for months and am amazed by the results, even my grey wiry hair has softness and luster like it never had before!  I have developed a shampoo with rosemary essential oil and other lovely ingredients that cleans thoroughly, but gently, and smells fantastic!  I have also created a conditioner that moisturizes and repairs as well as protects from the heat and everyday stressors that can cause damage.

I have been washing only sporadically for a long time now, I realized early on that the 'lather, rinse, repeat' mantra we were told is not necessary and actually can strip your hair.  So I wash 2-3 times a week and when I do wash my hair I usually only need 1 wash- not 2.  I follow this wash with a good coat of conditioner soaking into my hair, especially the ends, then a rinse off.  When I am going to head out into the sun, using a blow dryer or straightener, or just feel my hair needs a little nourishment- I rub a pea size mount into my hands and run my fingers through my hair evenly distributing the little bit the coat and sooth my tresses.

I have been making a few fragrances for this conditioner because people can have some strong preferences when it comes to aroma.  I offer peppermint, a citrus blend and now lavender.

I have seen success with young hair, older hair (like mine-totally grey), thick and wavey, soft and straight...I look forward to you trying this out and letting me know what you think.  I will be at the Los Ranchos Growers and Arts & Craft  Market this saturday, or order here online at my ETSY shop:  Shampoo & Conditioner

So, that's my post for today, please feel free to contact me with any questions,I appreciate feedback as well.  Take care and remember to

How to use some of your new products...and I love Market Saturdays!

...I enjoyed having a stand at Los Ranchos Grower's Market and Arts & Craft Market again today and it went fantastic!
I enjoyed meeting more people, making new friends, and helping people understand solutions to some of their natural care needs.  I wanted to re-post a little bit of info I had previously posted to help those who purchased for the first time today to remember some of those interesting little details, so here goes:

~ ~ ~ ~
My Coffee Body Scrub that is just phenomenal!

It has coffee, coconut oil, sugar, avocado oil & a couple of other ingredients and it works fantastic!  I was reading about coffee improving your circulation, exfoliating your skin, energizing your mood...all lovely qualities, then I read about how people are seeing coffee used to reduce cellulite!

Hold on-this can't be.   But it is true!  I have created this combination of ingredients that actually visibly is making my skin so youthful and YES it is decreasing my cellulite marks as well as diminishing those pesky old stretchmarks from my ahem, last baby. Well, I guess that really is no excuse, she is 25 now.  I just have a lot of evidence that I did bear three healthy 10 pound children, had 10 pounds worth of tumors removed when I was 40 and overall carried too much weight in my middle for too many years.  So this scrub is a tremendous thrill for me to create and use!

For the New Again Oatmeal Face Scrub:

1. place a small amount in the palm of your hand, about a teaspoon full...
2. wet the other hand with warm water and drop drops of water into your hand with the New Again...
3. run your hands back and forth together to make a chunky wet paste in your palms...
4. lightly rub this across your entire face, not scrubbing roughly nor letting sit for any length of time...
5. rinse well then pat dry.

This whole process is pretty quick and should be simple to do once you get the hang of it.  Try using every morning or evening but you may see like me, even though I have sensitive skin, I do this every day 2-3 times a day morning, afternoon and evening.

Then there is the Rejuvenation Oil Blend, here are some detailed instructions for Oil Cleansing:

The objective of using this method is to deep clean while balancing our skins oil production at the same time.

You'll need

  • a soft washcloth
  • your Rejuvenation oil blend
  • and hot, running water.
1. pour a puddle of oil into the palm of your hand and rub it around to warm it up...
2. gently cover your face with the oil, a light massage is fine but don't rub too hard, be gentle with your skin...
3, have your washcloth dipped in steamy hot water, not too hot for your face, and ring it out to lay across your face...
4. let the warm washcloth sit on your face while you relax until it cools...
5. use the washcloth to gently remove all the oil and impurities from your skin, repeat with another warm washcloth to be sure to get it all, but always be gentle with your skin.

Your face should feel fresh, soft and rejuvenated.

Finding life in old things...

I am ready to start this week off right.  I have been able to do so much today already and I thought I would shoot you a quick post to remind you/inform you that I do have another Etsy shop.  This is what you see the new link on top of this blog goes to.

I call the shop ThatOneThing because I am trying to find that one thing that reminds you of a sweet memory, or is still really useful though someone else thought it was lifeless and ready for the junk pile, or that funky eclectic piece you just can't find in the market now a days.

I love to find purpose in what others find useless.  I feel the same about lives...often we treat some people as though they are too far gone, or too old to matter, this saddens me.  If we look carefully all around us we can see new life being breathed into almost everyone.  It takes patience and care to see beyond the wounds, aging or anger to find the person worth reaching out to.  I love to reach into people's lives and pull up to the surface their natural beauty and say 'see- you still have some worth to you!'

So, as far as this idea to have a shop where you can find old pieces from the past and enjoy them again, this is just another way to bring life to the surface.  Sometimes I leave things as I find them and just offer them as they are, sometimes I alter them- hopefully improving or enhancing them.  Some day I would really love to have a physical location to visit, a shop with a work area to re-create things, a place to teach others how to repurpose, a space for people to drop by and grab a cup of coffee when they need to unwind a bit.  Ahhh, someday, but until then- Please take some time to look at what I have found recently, I hope you find that something you were actually looking for...

Take care!

Creating your own Spa...for your face.

A quick note about creating a spa treatment for your own face.  This will give you soft fresh skin, minimize your pores, eliminate the bacteria & make your skin look and feel younger & tighter.

Image result for braggs apple cider vinegarCombine about 1 full tsp of Calcium Bentonite Clay and about 1 tsp-1Tbls of Raw Organic Apple Cider Vinegar- (I love Bragg's brand and this can be picked up in your local grocery store.)  Using a glass or ceramic bowl and a wooden spoon stir the mixture until you create a super smooth mud.

Make sure your hair is pulled back and apply a layer of this mud all over your face and down your throat.  Message it in gently and be sure to avoid your eyebrows, eyes and inside mouth.  It is not toxic, but the taste and smell aren't appetizing.

Wait while you feel your face tighten, you see the mud harden and you know all is dry before you proceed to the next step.

Now this next step could be  you soaking in a hot bath while you wait for your mask to dry, but if you don't have time for that just sit and relax while your mask tightens and dries out, this could take from 15-30 minutes.  When your mask is fully dry you then take a warm wet washcloth to soak and wipe away the dry mud.  You may have a pink color to your skin at first, don't worry- this is totally expected and leaves soon.  You will feel the baby smoothness to your skin and you will be able to see that your pores look noticeably smaller and even see some lessening of facial wrinkles.

Yep, this is what is looks like as it is drying...sorry but you cannot smile when you do this- it will crack the mask.

So this is my tutorial on making your Spa Like Mask at home.  You can also use Aloe Vera juice for your liquid or even just use plain water and you will still get much of the effect of this terrific clay.  The Apple Cider vinegar does seem to produce the best results though.

As you use my products and read my suggestions you will notice your self changing and feeling more energetic, youthful, refreshed and naturally the best you will be shining through.  This is my mission with my business ThinkNatural.  I hope you find the way to bringing your natural self forward and feeling your best, let me help you find your way!

SO take some time to treat yourself today ~ enjoy a facial mask, soak in a salt bath, use some scrub and lotion to pamper your skin...be the best and most natural you that you can be and you will feel terrific!

Take care,

BettyK
